Alright, before anyone gets their nipple clamps in a twist – I’m not against trans people, or gay people, or anyone who wants to live their life how they bloody want. I’ve got mates who are gay, trans, straight, weirdly into crypto – all good people. Adults can do whatever they want in this wild little ride called life. Want to change your name to Luna and run a crystal healing stand in Byron? Be my guest.
But… let’s talk about women’s sports.
Now I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there’s been a bit of a trend lately. Sheila trains her whole life, runs up and down the track for 20 years, eats nothing but chicken and disappointment, finally gets to the top of her game—and bang! A biological bloke, now identifying as a woman, jumps in the race and wins by the length of a bloody Bunnings sausage.
And everyone claps like seals at feeding time.
Look, I get it – identity is a personal thing. You wanna live as a woman, go for it. I’ll support your right to wear pink Crocs and cry at Pixar films. But when it comes to competitive sport, the conversation changes. This isn’t about feelings. This is about fairness. This is about safety. This is about not cheating women out of the glory they’ve earned.
Just look at the furore in Olympic boxing. A trans fighter assigned male at birth was allowed to compete in a women’s category, and surprise surprise—she won. Cue headlines, protests, and female boxers saying what everyone’s thinking but few dare to say out loud: This isn’t just controversial. It’s dangerous. The Wall Street Journal reported that women in the sport feel “intimidated” and “silenced,” with one even refusing to fight rather than risk serious injury. If that’s not a wake-up punch to the jaw, I don’t know what is.
Because you know who gets absolutely shafted in all this? The woman who came second. The girl who trained every day since she was seven. The one who gave up birthdays, Tim Tams, and Tinder dates to chase her dream. And she loses – not to a better athlete, but to someone who went through puberty on testosterone and still has the bone structure of a brick shithouse.
Call me old-fashioned, but that doesn’t sound like equality. That sounds like a joke with a punchline shaped like a trophy.
Now, I can already hear the Twitter mob sharpening their pitchforks. “You’re transphobic!” Nah, mate. I’m logic-phobic. I break out in hives when common sense is ignored for ideology.
Here’s another one for you: Say I’ve got a teenage daughter (God help her). She’s in the changerooms after netball, having a rinse, and in walks a fully biological bloke with a schlong and a shaved leg, saying, “I identify as female.”
I don’t hate the person – but will my values be challenged in that moment? Abso-bloody-lutely. And if you say yours wouldn’t be, you’re either lying or you’ve never met a teenage girl trying to shower without anxiety.
This isn’t about hating anyone. It’s about saying – hey, maybe women deserve their own space, free from dicks in the locker room and unfair competition on the track. Maybe women’s sport should actually be for women, not just whoever signs up for the category. That’s not discrimination. That’s decency.
Let’s be honest: if this was the other way around—if trans men were dominating men’s sport—we’d be having a different yarn. But they’re not. You know why? Because biology isn’t a bloody social construct. It’s science. It’s fact. It’s the reason why I can’t get pregnant no matter how many soy lattes I drink.
So here’s my question to you: When did defending women become controversial? Why is it taboo to say, “Hey, let’s keep it fair for the girls”?
Leave your pitchforks in the ute and let’s talk like adults. Do you reckon women’s sport should be sacred? Or are we okay with medals going to whoever feels right on the day?
Sound off in the comments below. Or don’t. But if you’ve read this far and you’re not at least thinking about it, then maybe you’re the one who needs a cold shower – in your own bloody changeroom.

“Fact is that between 9 and 14 years of age boys - or should I say - biological males - experience a surge in testosterone. Among other things testosterone is crucial for muscle and bone strength. Every male transferring after the age of 14 will have a muscle and bone strenght advantage. Regardless of how many female hormones they will take to fully transform the muscle strenght advantage remains. If a sport competition is supposed to remain fair than trans gender people should not participate in the women category.”
“Yoda what an awesome piece. I was disgusted at the last olympics for the poor italian woman who has trained her whole life for her sport only to withdraw within a minute for her own safety. Fucking disgusting that the Olympic Committee allow it. Not on ... Not fair! ”
